Wrestling coach and academic coach at Dominion Academy. Six-year U.S. Army veteran, former Carl Albert High School wrestler, and five years coaching wrestling.

Jodie Shavers wears two hats at Dominion. In the afternoons and on Tuesday and Thursday nights, he runs the wrestling room. During the school day, he's the academic coach making sure full-day students actually finish their work.
He served six years in the U.S. Army, and it shows in how he runs a room: clear expectations, consistent routines, and no shortcuts. He's also working on his bachelor's degree in sports psychology, so he spends as much time on the mental side of wrestling as on technique. That means handling nerves before a match, staying composed when you're down on points, and coming back the next day after a loss.
Jodie wrestled at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City and has been coaching wrestling for five years. His track record is the kind parents notice: he has taken wrestlers who were brand new to the sport and coached them to state placings and state titles within a single year.
Before Dominion, he ran his own coaching business, Be Great Coaching. Now he coaches all three wrestling styles: folkstyle for the school season, and freestyle and Greco-Roman for athletes who want to go further.
In the study room, he checks each Student-Athlete Academy student's progress in their online school, helps them through assignments they're stuck on, and keeps the day on schedule. Kyle's take: he's very good at it.
Jodie has completed U.S. Center for SafeSport training, has passed a background check, and is completing his USA Wrestling coaching credentials.
