A 30-minute class, Monday through Thursday at 5 pm, where young kids learn to roll, balance, fall safely, and listen to a coach, all through games on the mat.
Thirty minutes is the right length for this age: long enough to learn something real, short enough to stay fun.
A coach leads the group through warm-up games, forward rolls, balance challenges, and the same safe-falling basics our older judo students practice every class. Kids work with partners their size and learn simple judo movements one step at a time.
The goal is a kid who's comfortable on the mat, follows a coach's directions, and can't wait to come back. Parents are welcome to watch from the seating along the mat.
Tucking the chin and rolling out of a fall is a skill kids keep for life. Tiny Kids teaches it as a game long before it matters.
Following directions from an adult who isn't Mom or Dad, alongside other kids, is great practice for the classroom.
Rolling, hopping, and balancing on one foot build the body control kids use in every sport later.
At 9, Tiny Kids move up to Kids and Teens judo already knowing how to fall, bow, and line up.
No. Tiny Kids is a kids' class led by our coaches. Parents are welcome to watch from the seating along the mat.
Yes, adapted for young kids. It covers the foundations of judo: rolling, falling safely, balance, and simple techniques, taught through games.
That's normal at this age. They can sit with you at the edge of the mat and join back in when they're ready. Most kids are in within a few minutes.
