Newcastle is about 25 minutes from our mats in Mustang. Families come for beginner-friendly judo, a parent-and-child class for little ones, and coaches who teach kids to fall safely first.
Plenty of Newcastle families find us when their oldest is still in preschool. This is how kids typically move through Dominion as they grow.

Judo has no punching or kicking. It's about balance, grips, and throws, and the very first thing every student learns is how to fall without getting hurt.
That makes it a confidence-builder for shy kids and a constructive outlet for the ones with energy to spare. Kids learn to bow in, listen to a coach, work with partners of every size, and stay calm when someone is pushing back.
Head coach Jhonatan Gutierrez was a senior national champion in Peru and competed at the Pan American Championships. He still competes, winning the -73 kg division at the 2026 Panamerican Judo Tour, and teaches beginners with the same precision he uses on the international mat.
